The short answer
State the EN 10305 part and edition, steel name, delivery condition, dimensions and dimension basis, tolerance options, quantity and length, surface and end condition, inspection document, testing, marking, packaging, and any hydraulic/pneumatic cleanliness or corrosion-protection requirements.
Purchase-order checklist
Resolve each item explicitly or document why the standard default is acceptable.
- Standard part and contract edition
- Steel name and delivery condition
- Seamless or welded route as defined by the part
- OD, ID where applicable, wall, and shape dimensions
- Tolerance and length options
- Surface condition, coatings, and end preparation
- Inspection document under EN 10204
- Leak-tightness or other optional tests where applicable
- Marking, traceability, packaging, and destination protection
Example structure — not a procurement specification
A line item might read: EN 10305-2:2016, E355 +SR, welded cold-drawn circular precision tube, stated OD × wall × length, with the selected tolerance and EN 10204 inspection document. Replace every placeholder with requirements reviewed against the purchased standard and producer capability.
