Applications and part selection
Application names help narrow the field, but pressure duty, fabrication route, surface, cleanliness, and dimensional interfaces determine the correct part.

The short answer
Parts 1 and 2 commonly serve precision mechanical and automotive components; current Part 3 covers welded cold-sized round and shaped products; Parts 4 and 6 are specifically written for hydraulic and pneumatic power systems. A cylinder barrel, pressure line, structural frame, and machined sleeve should not share a specification merely because their nominal dimensions match.
Questions before selection
Ask what dimension governs function, whether a weld seam is acceptable, what forming or machining follows, whether pressure-system requirements apply, what surface or cleanliness is required, and which inspection document the risk level demands.
- Mechanical components and sleeves
- Automotive seating, steering, and chassis components
- Hydraulic and pneumatic lines
- Cold-sized round and shaped fabrications
- Machined and formed tubular parts
Pressure service needs a system specification
A generic precision tube is not automatically a hydraulic line. Parts 4 and 6 address tube intended for hydraulic and pneumatic power systems, but system design, joining, corrosion protection, cleanliness, pressure rating, and applicable machinery or pressure legislation remain separate engineering responsibilities.
