European precision vs US mechanical
EN 10305 vs ASTM A513
Both families cover precision or mechanical tubing, but their classification systems and acceptance frameworks are not interchangeable.

The short answer
EN 10305 divides products by part and uses European steel names and delivery conditions. ASTM A513 classifies ERW mechanical tubing through Types and grades under a different dimensional, chemical, mechanical, and ordering framework. Similar OD and wall do not establish equivalence.
What to compare
Review manufacturing route, weld status, grade/property basis, condition, tolerance basis, surface, testing, certification, units, and contract edition. A producer capability statement does not by itself close differences between the standards.
| Topic | EN 10305 | ASTM A513 |
|---|---|---|
| Organization | Parts selected by route/form/service | Types and grades within one specification |
| Material state | Delivery symbols such as +C, +SR, +N | Type/grade and ordered condition |
| Units | Metric European standard | Inch-pound and SI framework |
| Substitution | Engineering review required | Engineering review required |
