EN 10305 vs DIN 2391

EN 10305 superseded much of the technical territory associated with DIN 2391, but old drawings should be converted through documented engineering review.

The short answer

DIN 2391 remains common on legacy drawings and in supplier language. EN 10305 reorganizes precision tube requirements into application- and route-specific parts with updated steel names, conditions, tolerances, and inspection references. A historical DIN designation is not safely replaced by changing only the standard number.

Migration checklist

Map the manufacturing route, steel and condition, dimensions, tolerances, surface, tests, and inspection documentation. Preserve the original contract requirement until the owner approves a technically complete replacement.

Sources and limitations

These references inform this page but do not replace the purchased standard or national adoption. Numeric chemistry, property, and tolerance requirements remain controlled standards content. The contract edition, drawing, purchase order, and applicable law govern acceptance.
